Mirziyoyev Urges Acceleration of Border Crossing with Tajikistan Using ID Cards

The statement was made during the president's meeting with Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin amid growing freight traffic.

From the early days of Mirziyoyev's presidency, relations with Tajikistan have been among his priorities. He added that during this time, bilateral ties have been significantly strengthened.

The president recalled that previously, the borders between the two countries were closed. Now, he believes, the implementation of border crossings using ID cards should be accelerated.

In November 2024, it was reported that plans were underway to allow entry into Tajikistan using Uzbek ID cards.
