Google Pay Launched in Uzbekistan
This was announced during the panel discussion 'Digital Technologies,' held in Samarkand as part of the C5+1 format events.

The launch of the payment service was announced on 19 October by Marcin Krasuski, Google Cloud's Director for Government Engagement and Public Policy in Central and Eastern Europe. The statement was made during a panel session on digital technologies in Samarkand as part of the C5+1 events.
Earlier, in late July, Jamshid Usmanov, Director of the Payment Systems Development Department at the Central Bank, suggested that Google Pay and Apple Pay could be launched in the coming months. According to him, following amendments to personal data legislation, the regulator, together with commercial banks and the payment systems Humo and Uzcard, began negotiations with technology companies and the technical preparation of the services.
One of the stages of this work was the tokenisation of bank cards, necessary for their secure use in digital wallets. It is expected that the integration will allow not only Visa and Mastercard cards to be connected but also national cards Humo and Uzcard.
