Trump Proposes Making Venezuela the 51st U.S. State
U.S. President Donald Trump once again proposed annexing Venezuela to the United States while speaking to supporters in Texas on October 27.

According to Trump, Venezuela possesses vast oil reserves, and major energy companies are investing billions of dollars in its economy. He suggested that the country could become the 51st U.S. state, with a governor elected instead of a president.
"It (Venezuela - ed.) will become a prosperous country, and who knows, maybe someday soon it will become a thriving 51st state. It’s possible," Trump said.
The U.S. leader also announced the arrival in Texas of the first tanker carrying a million barrels of Venezuelan oil under an agreement reached in August, reports the Associated Press.
Previously, in May, Trump had already voiced a similar idea. At the time, Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, rejected it, emphasizing the country’s intention to maintain its independence and sovereignty.
