Kazakhstan discusses raising taxes for the wealthy
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed considering the introduction of a higher tax rate for owners of large fortunes. He made the statement in his address to the people of the country.

According to the president, the issue concerns a fair distribution of the tax burden, rather than restricting lawfully acquired property. The government and the Kurultai were instructed to study the initiative and prepare proposals.
Tokayev also called for more active implementation of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in tax administration.
The possibility of introducing a luxury tax has been discussed in Kazakhstan repeatedly in the past.
