Thousands of strangers attend orphan's wedding in China after online invitation

Thousands of people traveled to China's Yunnan Province to attend the wedding of 24-year-old Xu Chenghun after he invited them online. Due to the influx of guests, the banquet had to be moved to a square in the local settlement.

When Xu was 3 years old, his father died, and two years later, his mother remarried. Initially, he was raised by his grandmother, and after her death, he and his older brother grew up with the support of relatives. The young man dropped out of school and started working to support himself.

Xu met his future wife online. Over three years, he saved around 160,000 yuan (approximately 287 million Uzbekistani soms) for the wedding.

Before the celebration, Xu feared that few guests would attend and posted an online invitation for anyone interested. As a result, strangers from different parts of China came to the wedding. They brought food, household appliances, and helped organize the event. Over 100 chefs joined in preparing the feast.

Due to the number of guests, the original venue was too small. Local authorities organized the relocation of the banquet to a public square, assisted in traffic regulation, and ensured order.
