Uzbekistan Plans to Use Old Tires in Road Construction
Uzbekistan is considering the production of road bitumen with the addition of rubber crumb from recycled car tires. The project is estimated to cost $35 million.

Representatives of the Hungarian MOL Group and Uzbekistan’s SHB ROAD INVEST discussed the introduction of rubber-modified bitumen (RMB) technology in Budapest. The talks were held with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan.
The technology involves processing worn-out tires into rubber crumb, which is then added to bitumen for road construction. This will allow the use of automotive waste as secondary raw material.
Following the meeting, the companies signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document provides for further study of the possibility of introducing the technology in Uzbekistan. The timeline for the start of production has not yet been announced.
If the project is implemented, the country could increase the volume of old tire recycling and the production of road materials using secondary raw materials.
