Tenerife Footballer Dies After Collision with Goalkeeper During Match
A tragedy occurred the day before in the 12th-round match against Andorra, which ended in a draw (2:2).

In the seventh minute of added time in the second half, the visiting team's goalkeeper, Jesús Ovoño, violently collided with De Miguel in the center of the field while attempting to prevent him from gaining possession of the ball and was immediately shown a straight red card. The forward remained lying on the pitch, and after a few seconds, players realized he was unconscious. The footballer was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Later, it was reported that he had suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest.
On Tuesday morning, the club announced that De Miguel's neurological condition had worsened and promised to provide additional information in the coming hours. Shortly afterward, Tenerife announced the death of the 30-year-old Spaniard.
"With a heavy heart and a lump in our throats, still unable to believe what has happened, Tenerife announces the tragic passing of Jesús De Miguel. He died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 08:00.
There are no words that can console, and nothing that can ease this grief. We stand with his devastated family, his loved ones, and all those mourning this terrible loss today.
The family of Jesús De Miguel is grateful for every word of support and sincerely requests the utmost respect for their privacy during these difficult moments," the club's statement reads.
