The androids worked around the clock: greeting visitors, dispensing goods, preparing coffee, checking shelves, and cleaning the premises. In 24 hours, they completed 1,730 tasks.
Only four were conditionally granted permanent employee status. One failed at restocking shelves; the organizers deemed it insufficiently active. The second, responsible for cleaning, encountered an overflowing trash bin, deviated from its route, and left the store.
Over 2 million people watched the trial live. The developers intend to improve the software of the two 'fired' machines. The experiment showed that robots still struggle to act independently in non-standard situations.
