Uzbekistan Participates in UN Expert Meetings on Combating Corruption
This is the 15th meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Group on Strengthening International Cooperation and the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Asset Recovery.
Representatives of Uzbekistan took part in two expert meetings in Vienna held under the UN Convention against Corruption.
The delegation is led by Rustam Giyasov, Head of the International Legal Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Participants are discussing how countries implement the provisions of the convention and how to build closer cooperation between them. The agenda also includes mutual legal assistance in criminal cases and the entire chain of handling criminal assets: from detection and seizure to confiscation and return.
On the sidelines of the meetings, officials from the Prosecutor General's Office are meeting with delegations from Latvia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and other countries. The negotiations focus on expanding cooperation in legal assistance for criminal cases and the return of illegally obtained assets.
